When I was little, I used to be deathly afraid of seeing my reflection in the darkness. I was scared that there was another universe that would suck me in if I looked in the mirror. My approach to this photo shoot was to show someone looking in the mirror and to have a genuinely scared look on their faces.

These portraits reflect my raw work. There is only a little bit of editing, if any, and all of these pictures were taken in the moment and not choreographed. They are all pure emotion, just like Richard Avedon. While learning about him, I realized that he set a couple rules for himself to follow while taking photos. Here they are, no shadows, only pure expressions, and no props. That is about it, and this is really all we need to take a good picture. Well, here are mine...

Since I was sick the day that our class went to Chinatown, i decided to take the pictures I had taken the other day on Fillmore and post them. Throughout my pictures, you'll notice that they all have the motif of advertisement and signs across Fillmore. These were interesting to me because it shows us the ways that advertisers use to lure in their customers.

Shadows

Shadows

This project was fascinating for me because I got the chance to explore the interesting things that the sun does to objects at different parts of the day or at different angles. Sometimes the sun would make the shadow of a tree's leaves spread out across a whole street and sometimes the shadow would only go about an inch away. Shadows are very interesting to study and these shots are a couple cool pictures I took in the Fillmore and near Drew.
